I woke up sitting on the bus seat, my whole body sore. The bus stopped around 4 o’clock in the morning by the petrol station. Several people got out of the bus to smoke their cigarette of the morning. I realized that we were stopped near a small Spanish village. I tried to sleep again. I was successful in sleeping for 3 hours only, because at seven o’clock we again pulled over, this time at a dusty reststop. I opened my eyes and looked out of the window. The sun had already rose and its rays shone through the haze above the sea, which extended far away. I could see a city in front of us. The driver of the bus was talking with somebody to find out which way was better to get to our hotel. I could not believe that we had already arrived in Pineda del Mare. We went through the maze of one-way streets and we reached the hotel at last.

We got out of the bus into the warm and sunny day and we had a look at the hotel. I have to say, its standard was very good, although the mess prevailed there at the day of our arriving. A lot of people were leaving, so the hall was full of suitcases and bags. We also took our rucksacks into the overfill room. Our tour guide said to us we would find accommodation first at 10 clock in the morning. We decided to go to the beach. We were walking the street, which was still sleeping after the night of celebrating. Only several runners were jogging there. When we got to the beach I took off my shoes. I ran onto the gold sand and my feet were washed by the little fresh sea waves. The sea was very calm and cold in the morning.

The morning passed quickly and we went back to the hotel. Our double room was found on the second floor. It had a view of the swimming pool and garden. In the afternoon we stayed by the sea again. I did not linger but jumped, like everybody there, in the water. People around were of various nationalities, as I found out when a big wave came .

After a great dinner we went into town. Life starts in Spain at night. All the people were very kind and pleasant. When I fell asleep I still tasted the salt flavour in my mouth and I still heard the typical Spanish music.

My first day in Spain was finished and I looked forward to the next one.
