ONE DAY IN BELARUS

One Day in summer
MY FAVORITE AND ORDINARY DAY
My Day
A summer day
An Unexpected Find and Unforgettable Impressions

My name is Lena Tulvinskaya.

I am 14. I am in form 8. I live in Zelva at 17/a Shosseinaya Street, flat ? 94.

Every year I go to Lithuania. Last year I went to Lithuania too. I went there in summer in August. There was a holiday of the town. The holiday continued for two days. During the first day I had a fun and bought many interesting things. But on the second day it was raining hard. At 8 o’clock the rain stopped and I with my friend and her parents thought that the rain would stop but we took umbrellas with us. Then we went to the stadium. There we saw a church and my friend said that when the church was built many trees near it were put down by the storm and all shops near this church were bankrupted. And she added that all priests live very well and they take much money from the people.
When we came to the center of the town the rain became heavier. I wanted to go around and I lost my friends. And I gave my umbrella to my friends and there was a large crowd and I couldn’t find them. I walked for a long time, stopped and looked at the people but I couldn’t see them anywhere. I spent much time there and then I went home. I knew the way home very badly and it took me a long time to get home. So when I came I got wet to the skin.
When I came home I saw that my mother went to her friend and the flat was closed. I sat near the door and I waited for her.
My friends live on the first floor. I live on the third floor. Some time later I heard that my friends came home. They looked for me and when they lost hope they went home.
I went to them and they gave me a hot water bottle to make me warm. My mother came home and saw the light in my friend’s flat and she knew that we went together on holiday and she came to them and found me there. She took me home and gave me hot tea and medicine. The next day the rain stopped.
I think that the rain perhaps began because we spoke about the church and perhaps this church was bewitched. But I don’t know. You can think yourselves. So I spent time very well except this case.

MY FAVORITE AND ORDINARY DAY IN ZELVA by: Marina Shetik

I am Marina Shetik. I am 13. I study in the 8th form in town of Zelva. I live in the family with my mother, father and sister. My mother’s name is Tamara, my father’s name is Vyacheslav and my sister’s name is Natasha. She learns at the university in Grodno now. My mother works in the bank and my farther is a public prosecutor in the district of Zelva.
Now I want to tell you about my favorite and ordinary day. This day is Wednesday. As you know on this day we must go to school. I wake up at 7.30 and begin to get ready for school. The lessons start at 8.30 in the morning. On this day I have 7 lessons. The first lesson is chemistry. At the chemistry lesson I and the rest of the pupils make different experiments, write exercises, learn much interesting. After the lessons the break begins. The break lasts 10 minutes. The second lesson is the lesson of physical training. At the physical culture lessons we do sports. We run, jump and play. Then again there is a break, but it lasts 15 minutes. The third lesson is mathematics. I like mathematics because I like to solve different sums. After the third lesson we have lunch in the canteen. After every lesson we have breaks of 15 minutes. The fourth and the fifth lessons are English. At our English lessons the teacher gives us tests and sometimes we make up interesting stories ourselves. It is very interesting at English lessons though it is hard. Then the sixth and the seventh lessons of informatics start, too. Every lesson lasts 45 minutes.
At 3 p.m. all lessons are over. I go home. Sometimes I and the boy with whom I sit at the same desk are on duty. And we stay to tidy our classroom. This day at 4 p.m. I go to the basketball club. Our coach's name is Oleg Petrovich. He teaches us everything what we cannot do when we play basketball. The training lasts till 17.00. Then I go home and begin to do lessons for Thursday. Then I play a little with my cat and go to sleep. That's all that I wanted to tell you about my day.
Good-bye.

Hello! My name is Anna Shvaba. I am a student of 8th form from
Krasnoselskiy secondary school/ Belarus/. I send my story to your One
day project .
I want to tell about one day in my life. I like nature and hiking very
much. My favorite
Seasons are spring and summer. I would like to narrate how I went
hiking last spring. As for me , I think , that spring is the
best time for hiking.
It was two years ago. It was a beautiful day. The fields were luminous
with sunlight. The leaves in the trees were green and flowers
blossomed. We began our campaign at 12 p.m. All pupils were divided up
into two groups. We followed hard on our teacher-s heels, in order not
to loose the way. When our group went to the place we pitched a camp and
burned a bonfire. It began the night very soon. We sat around the
bonfire and told various stories till the morning. We spoke about our
life, stars and dreamed of flying in the space to the unknown planets.
One could so dream away this night, but the sun rose. In the morning we
cooked breakfast and did many interesting things and played many games.
The daytime passed very soon and it began the second night.
At the second night we could see the moon and million of stars. Suddenly
we saw a falling star. Someone told that this star was the fate of some
person. And it meant that the life of this person was over. We stopped
talking and felt sad. Very soon we went to bed. But I was sure, that
everyone thought of this person. Next morning we got up at 7 o-clock. We
set down our things and went back home.
Regards,
Anna

I want you to tell you where
Krasnoselskiy is . We live in republik of Belarus, in Grodno region . Our

A summer day

Hello!!! My name is Tanya. I am 13 years old. I live in the capital of
Belarus – Minsk. I like summer and holidays. I like to travel with my
family.
Last summer I went to the Ukraine on the seaside of the Black Sea.
There I rested in the camp.
Once we went on an excursion in Sevastopol. This is a city on the
shore. At first we visited a zoological garden. It was small in Sevastopol.
There were many animals there. Then we went to terrarium. There we saw
turtles, crocodiles, many exotic fishes. There was a wonderful pool there
where we saw dolphins. They jumped out from the water, played with ball and
even sang. Dolphins are very interesting animals.
Excursion about the panorama of the defense of Sevastopol made me a
great impression.
In this war England, France and Turkey fought against Russia.
The excursion about Sevastopol was finished by the visiting a navy
submarine. We were inside the boat, went about compartments.
This day was the most interesting and fascinating in my life.
I am sending you this letter. Write to me about your travel. I am
waiting for an answer.

An Unexpected Find

That day I remember very well.My friend and I went for a walk. The
day was wonderful. It was sunny and warm. The day was not windy at all.
When we came to the garden,we saw the grass moving near the tree.We got
frightened and stood still. My friend and I stood in silence for a few
seconds but we thought that we stood still for some minutes. Then we saw
a snake's head in the grass. We were shocked. We thought it was a snake.
But we were mistaken. It was a big tortoise. She looked at me and went to
the nearest dandelions. It was very funny to watch her eating one of
them.We thought: "How could it get to our place?" In Belarus tortoises
are not found in nature.I decided to take it home. Now it is my best
friend and I take good care of it.So I always remember the day I met
my friend.

Unforgettable Impressions

We woke up early that Sunday because we did not want to be late for
our coach. My mother works at school,so she took me with her class on an
excursion to Nesvizh,an ancient Belarusian town. When we came to the bus
stop I met a lot of my friends there. We started soon.It was very interes
ting because our guide told us a lot of new information about our nati
ve town and about the castle of Radzivils in Nesvizh:about the hound
who saved the master, about the ghost of the Black Queen that wanders
around the castle, about one of the owners of the castle who issued an
edict for his servants that if he came home drunk they would lock him
in a cold storage. In the castle itself we learnt that this relics of
the past was built in the 16th century by the clan of the Radzivils,
rich and respected princes of the Great Principality of Lithuania. This
beautiful castle is a symbol of our national culure and history but our
authorities have no money for its complete restouration. Then we went to
Mir,once there was a large fortress with 5 huge towers 36,5 metres each
There were about 20 gun lots in each wall and the walls were 3 metres
thick.Even the Tatars could not fight this fortress in the 13th centu-
ry.But during World War II it was badly damaged and now it is being
restored. When I came home in the evening I was happy because I learnt
a lot about my country's history and culture. This day is one of my
brightest memories.
